Our story
Hi! My name is Becca and I run Lazy Acres Bernedoodles with my partner on our ranch in Longmont, CO. From a young age, dogs have always held a special place in my heart. One of my fondest childhood memories was dressing up as Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz, just so I could bring my beloved Border Terrier along for Halloween festivities.
Throughout my life, dogs have always been a source of therapy and unwavering companionship. They are our best friends, providing us with endless joy and unconditional love. It is this profound connection and the desire to share the same happiness with others that led me to embark on my journey as a dog breeder.
After careful consideration, we decided to focus on breeding Mini Bernedoodles. These delightful companions embody the best qualities of the Bernese Mountain Dog and Miniature Poodle. Mini Bernedoodles are not only low to non-shedding and compact, but they are also incredibly affectionate, loyal, smart, goofy, and cuddly. Their longer lifespan is an added bonus, ensuring many years of cherished memories together.
Our mission is to bring the same joy and fulfillment that dogs have brought us to other families. We ensure that each Bernedoodle puppy is raised with love, care, and socialization. We strive to produce healthy, well-rounded puppies that will become cherished members of their new families.

At Lazy Acres Bernedoodles, we take pride in raising healthy, well-loved dogs. Our breeding moms live in our home as part of the family, and each parent is carefully chosen for health, beauty, and a calm, family-oriented temperament. All of our dogs undergo thorough DNA health testing through Embark for breed-specific conditions, and our Bernese Mountain Dogs must also pass OFA hip evaluations before joining our program. One unique advantage of our breeding program is that our Bernese Mountain Dog mothers are on the smaller side, around 80 lbs, which allows us to produce F1 mini Bernedoodles that are the perfect compact size for families.
Why F1 Mini Bernedoodles
We specialize in breeding F1 mini Bernedoodles, also known as mini first generation Bernedoodles. We have chosen this breeding program because F1 mini Bernedoodles tend to be healthier and have a longer lifespan. Being a first generation mix, they have an equal blend of both parental breeds, which reduces the likelihood of inheriting any breed-specific diseases from either side of their lineage. This means that our Bernedoodles can enjoy healthier lives for a longer time. In addition, F1 Bernedoodles are most likely to inherit the minimal shedding teddy bear wavy coat.
In addition, breeding a Bernese Mountain dog female to a male mini poodle ensures smaller puppies which minimizes stress and potential issues for our mothers.
Ranch Livin’
Our Bernedoodles are raised on a raw supplemented diet that consists of regeneratively raised meat sourced directly from our ranch. In addition, we make local and regenerative dog treats for our dogs. These nutritious snacks keep our dogs happy and healthy. We believe in providing them with the highest quality nutrition for optimal health.
In addition to their nutritious diet, our dogs enjoy an active lifestyle. They spend their days playing in our spacious yard and have the freedom to run and explore on our ranch, where they interact with our goats, sheep, rabbits, and chickens. This enriching environment allows our Bernedoodles to develop social skills and enjoy a well-rounded upbringing.
Puppy Training
Our puppies undergo the comprehensive Badass Breeders puppy training curriculum, which incorporates ENS and ESI sensory training techniques utilized in the training of military and service dogs. This specialized training begins as early as day 3 and continues until the puppy is ready to join their new family. By exposing our puppies to a variety of smells, sounds, sights, touches, interactions with kids, animals, and other dogs, as well as initiating basic potty training on pee pads, we ensure they are well-prepared for a seamless transition into their new homes. Our dedication lies in ensuring our puppies effortlessly integrate into their new family life, free from any potential issues. Furthermore, our commitment extends to nurturing dogs that will positively impact the world around them.
